Jezebel was a Phoenician princess who married
King Ahab of Israel and became his queen.
She is infamous in the Bible for promoting the worship of Baal,
a Canaanite god of fertility and storms, and for persecuting
the prophets of Yahweh, the God of Israel.
She is also accused of manipulating her husband,
murdering an innocent man named Naboth,
and dressing seductively before her death.
Jezebel has been portrayed as a wicked and immoral
woman throughout history, but some scholars have suggested
that she was a loyal and courageous queen who defended her
religion and culture against a hostile regime.
